It is unlikely that anybody would go into an interview planning to look like they’ve done no research, that they are lazy or work shy or just downright dodgy, but that is exactly the impression that hundreds of candidates are giving with the questions they ask during a job interview.

To look like you’ve done no research, ask
a) What does your company do?
b) How big is your company?
c) Anything you could have found out with a 30-second search on Google

To look lazy or work-shy, ask
a) How much holiday/sick pay do I get?
b) What does this company consider a good absenteeism record?
c) Can I see your break room?
d) Is it easy to get away with stuff around here?

To look a bit dodgy, ask

a) Do you do background checks?
b) Do you monitor e-mail or Internet usage?
c) How many warnings do you get before you’re fired?
d) Can I be paid in cash/by cheque? To look like you’re not that interested in the job, ask
a) How quickly can I be promoted?
b) If I’m hired, when can I start applying for other positions in the company?

To look like you’re a gossip or just a bit odd, ask
a) What is the zodiac sign of the company chairman?
b) Lots of detailed questions about the interviewer’s background
c) About any gossip you’ve heard

And finally, make sure you ask for lots of special treatment to ensure you are too high maintenance to bother hiring.
